Function Health Cost (2026): The Full Price Stack, Verified

Most pages about Function Health cost stop at $365. That is the base membership, and it is accurate, but it is not what people actually pay. This page assembles the full stack: the base, the price history, the imaging add-ons Function does publish, the test add-ons it does not, how HSA and FSA change the real number, what happens at renewal, and what you cannot get back.

Every figure was checked against Function's own pages on 4 September 2026 and linked to the page we checked. Where Function does not publish a number, we say that instead of estimating one.

Who publishes this page, and why that matters

This page is published by Merios, which makes blood-test tracking software. Merios competes with Function Health. You should read this page knowing that.

Because of that conflict, three rules govern it. Merios is not the subject of this page and is never ranked first on it. Merios appears in exactly one row of the comparison table below, plus one section describing where you should not use it. And there are no affiliate links here: no referral codes, no tracked links, no commission if you join Function. That matters more than usual on a page like this, because Function runs a paying referral program and most cost pages you will find are enrolled in it.

How we priced this

Criteria, stated before any verdict:

1. Only Function's own published pages count as a price source. Not reviews, not aggregators, not affiliate roundups.
2. A price with no publication date is not a price. Every figure below carries 4 September 2026.
3. Unpublished is reported as unpublished. No ranges, no "roughly," no averaging of third-party guesses.
4. All-in cost is what matters, so the comparison at the end adds the realistic extras rather than comparing sticker to sticker.
5. Tax treatment is arithmetic, not a discount. We show the HSA effect as a calculation you can check, and label it as ours.

The base price, verified 4 September 2026

At 160+ tests for $365 that is $2.28 per test, which is our arithmetic and not a Function figure. It is competitive: we could only verify one lab-inclusive membership below it, Hundred Health at $199 for 100+ tests, or $1.99 each.

The price history: $499 to $365

Function cut membership from $499 to $365 on 20 November 2025, announced on its own blog. The announcement is unusually explicit about scope: "Whether you're joining Function for the first time, renewing your membership, or gifting to someone you love, it's $365 across the board."

Two things follow from that. Any page quoting $499 is more than nine months stale, and the drop was a 26.9 percent cut rather than a promotion with an end date. As of 4 September 2026 the price has not moved again.

Renewal price versus first-year price

This is the one place Function's own materials are not fully consistent, and it is worth knowing before you commit.

The November 2025 announcement says $365 applies to renewals as well as new members. The pricing page footnote, however, describes "Function's $365 first-year membership," and the announcement carries a similar footnote noting the offer applies to first-year members with different terms potentially applying to renewals and add-on services.

Function does not publish a separate renewal price. Read together, the most defensible reading is that renewal is also $365, because that is what the announcement states in the body text. But the footnote language leaves room, and the membership auto-renews annually. If year-two cost is decisive for you, confirm it in writing with Function before joining rather than relying on this page or any other.

Add-on test costs: what Function does not publish

Function's FAQ says you can "test any biomarker on-demand anytime for an additional member-only cost." Its pricing page says "other items and services require additional payment." Neither states a figure, and there is no public add-on price list anywhere on the site.

Several third-party sites publish tables of Function add-on prices — hormone panels, micronutrients, heavy metals, APOE and MTHFR genotyping, Galleri. Every one we examined presents ranges with a tilde and attributes them to "reported member pricing" rather than to Function. We are not going to launder those into facts. Treat Function's non-imaging add-on pricing as unknown until you are inside the product.

That is a real cost consideration, not a footnote. If your reason for joining is a specific marker outside the standard panel, you cannot budget it in advance.

Imaging add-ons, which Function does publish

Imaging is the exception, and the prices are on functionhealth.com/imaging.

Function also advertises "up to a $200 credit off imaging for Function members only," applied automatically when you book, and states that MRIs and CTs are FSA/HSA eligible with a receipt provided. Scans are available at 200+ US locations. Its FAQ notes CTs are offered for ages 35 to 85.

The arithmetic matters here more than anywhere else on the page: one Annual MRI costs more than two years of membership. If imaging is your reason for joining, the membership is the small line item, not the big one. Before booking a heart scan on impulse, read what a coronary calcium score actually tells you.

Galleri multi-cancer screening is listed as available to members, but Function does not publish its Galleri price. For scale, WHOOP sells the same test at $799 on its own storefront — a different vendor, not a Function quote.

HSA, FSA, and what the tax treatment is really worth

Function accepts no insurance at all, so the only mechanism that reduces the real cost is pre-tax money.

Function's FAQ confirms HSA/FSA eligibility, tells you to confirm with your own plan, and is specific about the paperwork: download the Itemized Receipt from Payment History, not the Stripe receipt, and note the itemized receipt only becomes available once you have a scheduled date of service.

The saving is your own marginal rate. Our arithmetic, not Function's:

Two caveats. State income tax treatment of HSA contributions is not uniform, so your figure will differ. And a reimbursement from an existing HSA balance saves the income tax but not the FICA, so the middle row overstates it for that route. Confirm with a tax professional rather than with a comparison page.

Card offers, referral credits, and discount codes

Chase Sapphire offer — expired. Function published an offer giving Sapphire Reserve holders 50 percent cash back on a $365 membership, capped at $182.50, and Sapphire Preferred holders 15 percent, capped at $55. Function's own page states the offer is valid "through March 31, 2026." That date has passed. Function's page has not been updated to say so, which is exactly why a verification date belongs on every figure like this.

Referral credits — live, and worth less than they used to be. Function's FAQ states the current program pays "$25 to you for every successful referral" once the referred person stays a member 60 days, plus "$25 toward the first year of membership for the person you refer." The same answer notes that members previously received $100 per referral with nothing for the referred member. Gifted memberships are not eligible, and licensed healthcare professionals cannot collect referral fees.

Podcast and creator discount codes. Codes circulate widely. Function does not publish a list of them, we have no way to verify which are live on any given day, and we would earn nothing from linking them. Assume $365 is your price unless a code visibly applies at checkout.

Refunds and cancellation

Function's FAQ is blunt: "Function does not offer refunds for prior payments." Pauses are not available. You can cancel and rejoin at any time, but the year you already paid for is spent.

There is a second, quieter cost in the structure. The mid-year test is included, but Function's FAQ states you "must use your Mid-Year Test before your annual renewal" and that it "doesn't roll over." Skip it and your effective cost per test rises from $2.28 to roughly $3.65, because you paid for 160+ and used 100+. All-in annual cost against four alternatives

Sticker against sticker is misleading, so this compares realistic annual totals. All alternative prices verified 4 September 2026 on the vendors' own pages.

The honest read: on membership alone Function sits mid-field, cheaper per test than buying the same Quest panel retail and more expensive per test than Hundred Health. It moves out of that band the moment you add imaging, and that is where most people's Function bill actually diverges from $365.

When Merios is the wrong choice

We would rather you buy the right thing than the thing we sell. Cases where Function, or another product above, is the correct purchase:

• You do not already get bloodwork. Merios has no lab and cannot order one. The $365 is buying the draw, and Merios does not replace it.
• You want a clinician to review results. Function states clinician review of every result as part of the membership. Merios has no clinicians and is not a medical service.
• You want imaging or cancer screening. Merios does no MRI, CT, or Galleri.
• You want one bill covering everything. Merios' price excludes lab fees entirely; add a comprehensive panel and your total can exceed $365, at which point Function is cheaper and more complete.
• You want HSA or FSA reimbursement for the testing itself. Function issues an itemized receipt for a medical service. Software subscriptions are generally not treated the same way.
• You are not in the Apple ecosystem. Much of Merios' value is Apple Health integration.

What we could not verify

• The New York and New Jersey price. Function says testing there can cost more; it does not say how much. This is the single most-requested number we could not confirm, and it is the honest answer to "Function Health cost NYC."
• Add-on test prices for anything other than imaging, including Galleri.
• The renewal price as a distinct figure. The announcement says $365 across the board; the footnotes say first-year. Both are Function's own words.
• Whether the Chase Sapphire offer was extended past 31 March 2026. Function's page still shows it without an expiry notice.
